Let's Talk About Menstruation.
Menstruation, or "the curse" as it's unfortunately known in many cultures, has always been a taboo. Virtually anyone who's had a period can relate to stories of whispered conversations in the bathroom, slipping a tampon discretely up their sleeve before running off to change, staining their clothing, or being embarrassed to ask for a tampon. Why is this?
Many experiencing the whirlwind of puberty are left guessing how long to leave their tampon in, leading to one of our worst middle school nightmares: blood leaking through our new pants. In much more serious cases, this can also lead to toxic shock syndrome; although less prevalent than it once was, this condition is not only a danger, but an even more widespread source of anxiety for tampon users of all ages.
We at my.Flow want to bring data on the period out of the darkness, following in the footsteps of the hundreds of smart devices that track sleep, diet, exercise, and every other bodily function you can think of. We have developed a tampon monitor and companion tampons that notify you when your tampon is full and should be changed. With our current working form factor, when the monitor senses your tampon approaching full saturation, a notification will be sent to your phone via our Bluetooth-enabled belt clip, so that you never have to worry about leakage or TSS again.
With my.Flow, we will empower anyone experiencing a period with knowledge and confidence about their bodies, from the minute-by-minute to the monthly level. Together, let's start the conversation around the period.
